The heart behind LEV:
Lev is a Hebrew word that is sometimes translated as 'mind' or 'conscience', but most commonly 'heart'. Throughout ancient history and across various cultures, there have been different interpretations of how the human body functions - this was also true with the Israelite writers of the Bible.

It was commonly known that the heart is a vital organ that sustains life, but it was also understood to be where all human intellectual activity took place, as they had no concept of the brain at that time. They believed the heart is where we understand and make connections, where wisdom dwells, and what we use to discern truth and error.

The heart is also where we feel emotions - pain, fear, distress, depression, joy. In Hebrew, to be happy is to be "good of heart". The heart is also where we make choices motivated by our desires. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Guard your heart because from it flows your whole life."

Over the years and through modern medicine, we may have gained more knowledge and insight about the human heart, mind, body, and soul, but we can still acknowledge that with all of their respective roles and functions, they are all interconnected and interdependent. One cannot function without the other. At LEV Counseling, my purpose is driven by the desire to promote attunement and to get to the heart of your issues - to help you overcome and experience true freedom to live life with purpose as your true self.

My Beliefs
I believe our worldview and any spiritual background impact the lens in which we live our lives. I acknowledge that my own faith background intrinsically guides me; however, this does not mean that I impose my beliefs on others. This is a judgement-free zone and LEV Counseling welcomes clients with varying backgrounds.
